I have had the joy of painting with Cher as my instructor, including attending her painting retreat in Kastellorizo, Greece. I am now eagerly anticipating her upcoming workshop on painting techniques and brushwork.
Cher is an inspiring teacher. When I first began, I lacked confidence in my ability to produce a painting I would be proud of. With her gentle encouragement to discover “the artist within,” I decided to step forward and explore my potential. I chose to paint a bowl of hydrangeas — something I would never have attempted on my own.
Cher’s gridding system provides a clear and practical framework, allowing even beginners to achieve proportion and perspective. It gave me a sense of security and confidence from the outset. Her classes are intentionally small, usually around five students, which creates a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. She engages with each person in a friendly, encouraging, and often delightfully humorous way. What begins as a class quickly becomes an outing — filled with shared laughter and growing friendships.
With Cher’s skilled guidance, I worked through challenges I would once have found daunting. I now have a painting I truly love, hanging proudly in my sitting room — a constant reminder of what is possible.
After experiencing so much enjoyment and growth, I joined Cher on a Greek painting and cooking retreat. It was far more than an art experience. Travelling solo yet belonging to a ready-made group was both freeing and comforting. We explored Greek culture, formed new friendships, and listened to the stories of migrant families who made Australia their home. It deepened my appreciation for our multicultural society and the richness it brings to the Australian way of life.
Cher is now planning workshops and retreats in Italy and Broome. I feel tempted to follow this “artist’s trail,” as each experience opens new creative and personal horizons for me.
For now, I am very much looking forward to her half-day technique and brushstroke workshop in Perth this April. I can hardly wait.
I was fortunate to be part of one of the very first retreats in Greece, Cher organised in beautiful Kassellorizo — a true hidden paradise that took three flights to reach, but was absolutely worth every moment of travel. From the instant we arrived, we settled into the most magical oasis of relaxation, connection, and unforgettable experiences. Each day felt surreal and breathtaking, filled with thoughtful touches that made every moment special.
The retreat was perfectly curated — from the setting to the activities, everything reflected care, attention, and a deep sense of purpose. I left not only refreshed, but also with wonderful new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
I can’t wait to attend more of Cher’s retreats. Highly recommend!
Cher is such a talented artist and creates the most beautiful, inclusive environment where everyone feels completely comfortable and supported. There’s a real sense of calm and serenity throughout the retreat, but also plenty of laughs because she’s so much fun to be around.
It’s not just an art class, it’s a truly special and restorative experience I couldn’t recommend more.
I feel incredibly grateful to have found Cher as my art teacher. She has such a warm, welcoming energy that immediately puts you at ease, no matter your experience level.
Cher has a beautiful way of explaining techniques so they feel accessible and empowering, while still encouraging you to explore your own creativity and style. I always leave her classes feeling more confident, more inspired, and completely uplifted.
Her retreats are just as special. They are thoughtfully curated, deeply relaxing, and filled with the most wonderful feminine energy. It’s such a supportive, nurturing space where creativity flows naturally and genuine connections are formed. The combination of art, relaxation and community is truly something magical.
If you’re looking for an art teacher who is talented, generous with her knowledge, and creates a warm, encouraging environment, I can’t recommend Cher highly enough.
Wow ! Another trip to learn painting skills and have fun with like minded people. I have been on several trips with Cher and have enjoyed every minute. And of course brought home some lovely art pieces. Mind you, we have seen surrounding areas, eaten amazing food and meet lots of local people.
Sooo much fun!!
