Inspired by the photography of @____houseofrose, whose imagery effortlessly celebrates lightness, joy, and spontaneity, Hubba Bubba reimagines classic glamour through a contemporary lens.
Drawing on the timeless elegance of Audrey Hepburn, I wanted to capture a sense of feminine confidence, beauty, and play. The bubblegum-blowing gesture introduces an unexpected twist – bringing youth, spontaneity, and a touch of rebellion to an otherwise classic portrait. Fluorescent accents add fresh energy and edge. With heavy impasto palette knife work, the painting is built from layers of Payne’s Grey (never black), rich browns, magentas, and blues – create the depth, warmth and velvety richness. The work is finished with a delicate speckled effect inspired by vintage film photography, softening the composition and evoking a sense of nostalgia.
